Knauf Insulation is a German family-owned global manufacturer of fiberglass insulation — delivering thermal and acoustical solutions for residential, commercial, industrial, and OEM applications. Knauf Insulation solutions save energy, cut emissions and make sure buildings are good for the environment and keep people healthy, safe and well. With over 40 years of experience in the insulation industry, the company employs nearly 6,000 people across more than 40 countries with 28 manufacturing sites in 15 countries. Knauf Insulation is part of the Knauf Group, which was established in 1932 and headquartered in Iphofen, Germany.
Global Location Strategies was commissioned by Knauf Insulation, a German building and consumer products manufacturer, to identify a location for a new manufacturing and distribution facility. The project required proximity to end markets, a highly educated workforce, favorable site and environmental conditions, a reliable source of energy, robust highway and rail infrastructure, and a competitive business climate.
Considering Knauf Insulation’s project requirements, GLS identified 19 sites across three states. A fatal flaw analysis was conducted for each site and those properties that passed were prioritized for the client, leading to the selection of a site.
GLS negotiated and secured economic incentives on behalf of the company.
In 2021, Knauf Insulation announced the selection of McGregor, Texas for its 600,000-square-foot $210 million facility.
