Trex Company is the world’s largest manufacturer of high-performance wood-alternative decking and railing. Stocked in more than 6,700 retail locations worldwide, the company’s outdoor living products offer a wide range of style options with fewer ongoing maintenance requirements than wood, as well as an environmentally responsible choice. Trex Company was established in 1996 and is headquartered in Winchester, Virginia.

Global Location Strategies was commissioned by Trex Company, an American wood-alternative decking and railing manufacturer, to identify a location for a new Central US production facility. The project required a strong labor pool and challenging siting requirements.

Considering Trex’s project requirements, GLS evaluated 51 sites across eight states. The analysis considered quality, cost, and risk metrics throughout the evaluation. GLS led the Trex team on multiple site visits to delve into workforce, utilities, logistics, due diligence, and incentive negotiations in more detail to select a final site.

GLS negotiated and secured economic incentives on behalf of the company.

In 2021, Trex Company announced its selection of Little Rock, Arkansas for its $400 million manufacturing facility. This is Trex’s third, and potentially largest, US manufacturing site. Trex expects the facility to be operational in 2024.
