Global Location Strategies was commissioned by P&G, an American multinational consumer goods corporation, to assist in selecting the final location for its new manufacturing facility. This would be only the company’s second facility in the United States since 1971.
Prior to bringing on GLS, The P&G team identified two sites for review – one in West Virginia and one in Pennsylvania. GLS began its evaluation of the finalist sites by obtaining extensive information on each site. The GLS team then visited each site, meeting with utility, transportation, and site representatives. After a thorough review of each site, GLS presented P&G with the most preferred location and coordinated and commissioned proper due diligence studies on the site.
In 2015, P&G announced its selection of Martinsburg, West Virginia for its $500 million new plant, creating 700 jobs.
In 2018, the first production line was put into operation.
As of 2023, the new multi-category manufacturing plant has 39 of its projected 45 product lines up and running. The West Virginia manufacturing plant is part of a redesign of P&G’s North American supply network. Its location positions P&G to utilize its new distribution center network in the Eastern US, which includes facilities in Georgia, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Although the original plan was to create 700 full-time jobs, that has since doubled and grown to more than 1,400.
