New Distribution Centers

Proctor & Gamble (P&G) serves consumers around the world with one of the strongest portfolios of trusted, quality, leadership brands, including Always Discreet, Ambi Pur, Downy, Fairy, Febreze, Gillette, Head & Shoulders, Herbal Essences, Metamucil, Olay, Oral-B, Pampers, Pantene, SK-II, Vicks, and Voost. The P&G community includes operations in approximately 70 countries worldwide. P&G was established in 1837 and is headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Global Location Strategies was commissioned by P&G, an American multinational consumer goods corporation, to identify sites for five new distribution centers across the US – specifically California, Georgia, Texas, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.

Prior to bringing on GLS, the P&G team had internally identified two potential sites in each region but needed assistance in making the final selection. The GLS team guided P&G through final evaluations and due diligence efforts for each site. Through data collection, site visits, and implementation of proper studies, GLS was able to make final recommendations on which site should be selected for each new facility.

In 2014, P&G announced the selection for each of the new distribution centers, ranging from 1.5 to 2 million square feet each, in Moreno Valley, California; Atlanta, Georgia; Dayton, Ohio; Dallas, Texas; and Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. These distribution centers were part of a P&G initiative to completely revolutionize their North American supply chain to make it more consumer friendly, with a distribution goal of being within one day’s transit to 80 percent of retailers.
