The City of West Memphis Economic Development is a public organization focused on attracting new jobs and investment to the city of West Memphis, Arkansas.
Global Location Strategies was commissioned by the City of West Memphis Economic Development to execute a site visit coaching session for its team and Entergy Arkansas. The two organizations are currently marketing the 1,800-acre West Memphis I-40 mega site for future development and wanted to further their recruitment skills through the workshop. The city has continued to make strategic investments in this property, certifying it through Entergy Arkansas’ certified sites program, Select Site, which uses 50-point criteria to declare a site as shovel-ready. In order to better understand their sites and position themselves to attract a future industrial project, the West Memphis team approached GLS to evaluate their site through a Virtual Site Visit.
In December 2020, the GLS team conducted a Virtual Site Visit (VSV) for the West Memphis I-40 megasite located in West Memphis, Arkansas. The City of West Memphis, Entergy Arkansas, ASU Mid-South, Arkansas Dept of Workforce Services, AECOM, WM Utility Commission, and Centerpoint Energy Natural Gas presented their site information and community assets to the GLS team.
After the 2020 virtual site visit, GLS provided targeted feedback to the West Memphis team on how to adjust their presentation and submission materials to better present the West Memphis I-40 mega site on future projects. The organization made the actionable changes and noted their team now has a much higher level of confidence in its ability to compete on future projects.
