As site selection and incentive negotiation experts, we pride ourselves on finding potential and promise in unexpected places. Where some see vacant tracts of land, we see thriving facilities that support growing communities. Where some see abandoned buildings, we see the spark of economic renewal.
Where others see challenges, we see potential
According to recent studies, a growing number of high school and college graduates do not have the necessary skills required by most manufacturing jobs. This skills gap, along with the aging baby boomer population, has resulted in labor shortages that hinder productivity and threaten workers’ ability to earn a living wage.
Today, approximately 369,000 manufacturing jobs remain vacant in the U.S., and over the next ten years, manufacturers will likely add 4.6 million manufacturing jobs. If this trend continues and projections hold true, 2.4 million manufacturing jobs may go unfilled over the next decade.
Rather than dwelling on the problem, we want to be part of the solution.
During this season of giving, Global Location Strategies is inviting you, our network of clients, communities, and industry colleagues to join us in supporting Communities In School, a dynamic organization that empowers students to stay in school and achieve in life. Since this organization’s mission aligns so closely with our purpose and core values, we want to help them combat food insecurity this holiday season.
For some, free or reduced-price school meals have become a major source of basic nutrition. When schools close for the holidays, many of those families struggle to fill the gap.
To accomplish this goal, Global Location Strategies Founding Principal, Didi Caldwell, has proposed a Matching Funds Challenge to raise money to provide students food during the two-week holiday break. The food from the drive, all of which is kid-friendly, will be packed by the GLS team and given to CIS for distribution to students.
To raise money to fulfill this need, Global Location Strategies’ Matching Funds Challenge will be open from now through December 1, 2020. Starting with a personal donation of $500 from Didi Caldwell and a matching $500 from GLS, the company will match donated funds dollar-for-dollar, up to $4,000.
Would you please consider joining us as we work to make a difference in the lives of our young people? As industry professionals, we are committed to doing everything possible to ensure the prosperity of manufacturing in the U.S. and beyond, for today and for generations to come. Your contribution, big or small, will help us build a stronger economy and a brighter future for us all.
We are grateful for your generosity and thankful for your willingness to help us empower those who will shape our future.
From our GLS Family to yours, Happy Holidays!
