Research & Insights Intern

GLS is seeking a Research & Insights Intern to support the firm’s research, thought leadership, and strategic analysis initiatives. 

This internship provides hands-on experience in:

  • Economic development research
  • Corporate investment trends
  • Strategic consulting insights
  • Data-driven analysis

The intern will work closely with the GLS team to analyze industry trends, support thought leadership initiatives, and help translate complex data into clear insights for executives and policymakers.

This role is ideal for students interested in consulting, economic development, policy research, or data-driven strategy.

Internship Format

  • Summer Internship
    • 12 weeks
    • Full-time (approximately 40 hours per week)
  • Academic Semester Internship
    • Approximately 12 hours per week
    • Flexible scheduling around coursework

Principal, Site Selection

The Site Selection Principal identifies, cultivates, and executes high-profile corporate site selection projects (e.g. project schedule, budget, and quality of client-facing deliverables), as well as advises on economic development consulting projects. The Principal is capable of independently leading complex corporate projects and has good judgment for consulting recommendations based on data-driven analyses, managing project resources and teammates, as well as generating and fostering business development leads.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field (Master’s degree preferred)
  • At-least seven (7) years of experience, in site selection project management required
  • Strong understanding of project management, and economic development required
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and analytical skills including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large corporate projects and lead teams
  • Strong organization skills to maintain the project schedule, budget, and allocation of appropriate resources for each project
  • Proven track record of strategic thinking, decision-making, and execution
  • Experience in sectors including life sciences and data centers preferred

  • Valid driver’s license and passport
  • Ability to travel up to 60%

Senior Site Selection Consultant

The Senior Consultant leads and manages corporate site selection projects (e.g. project schedule, budget, and quality of client-facing deliverables). This role is a key player in the success of the site selection process, reporting to the Project Management Lead. The ideal candidate is capable of independently leading corporate and economic development consulting projects, evaluating and communicating large sets of data, and has the ability to manage project teams.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field (Master’s degree preferred)
  • At least four (4) years of experience in site selection project management required
  • Strong understanding of project management, economic development, and finance
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for effective collaboration with corporate clients
  • Demonstrated ability to manage corporate projects and lead small teams
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain the project schedule, budget, and allocation of appropriate resources per project
  • Proven track record of strategic thinking, decision-making, and execution
  • Experience in sectors including life sciences and data centers a plus

  • Ability to travel up to 50%
